Almiros lake or Almyros lake river is located west of Gazi city of Heraklion. It is the only place where the famous diver Jacques Cousteau didnot manage to find the bottom and the direction is coming on the surface of the lake. It is salty water coming from very far but obviously not from the sea.

Driving to Almiros lakeis easy, you will need to take the E94 high way direction to Gazi , exit the high way and drive south, it is located next to 3churches gorge and very close to the exit of the highway, close to the factory of Eletricity in Ellinoperata (Linoperamata) of Gazi city.
